I bought my WYDE Nova sneakers in early October 2025. They were my first genuinely wide, foot-shaped shoes, and my first reaction was not immediate relief. It was uncertainty.
The EU 43 felt shockingly roomy around my toes. I was so accustomed to conventional shoes that I assumed all that space meant I had ordered a size too large. I bought the EU 42 as well so I could compare them at home. The smaller pair settled the question quickly: my toes touched the front, and the shoe did not have enough vertical space for me. I returned the 42 and kept the 43.
That was the right decision. Ten months later, the Nova has become the casual shoe I reach for most often. I wear it around four days per week, including full tourist days, long walks, concerts and ordinary everyday use. The unexpected downside is that most of my conventional shoes now feel narrow when I go back to them.
The short answer
I would buy the WYDE Nova again at full price. They are exceptionally roomy, comfortable and stable without feeling like thin barefoot shoes. I can walk 20,000 steps or stand through a long concert in them without the foot aching, restlessness or tingling I often experience in narrower shoes.
They are expensive and not especially light. The original cotton laces were also frustrating to loosen and tighten. Those are my only meaningful complaints after ten months.

What kind of shoe is the WYDE Nova?
The Nova combines several principles associated with barefoot footwear with more protection from hard urban surfaces. It has a wide, foot-shaped toe box, zero drop, no toe spring and a flexible sole. At the same time, it has enough material underfoot that I do not feel every stone or pavement edge.
WYDE currently lists a 10 mm stack height plus the removable insole. That explains why the Nova feels different from very thin minimalist shoes. There is no traditional built-in arch support, but there is considerably more separation from the ground than a barefoot-style sole with only a few millimetres of rubber. (WYDE Nova specifications)
That balance is exactly what I wanted. My toes can spread and my feet can flex, but walking all day on concrete still feels comfortable.
The Beige/Blue version is handmade in Portugal. WYDE lists a rubber outsole, LWG-certified nubuck and aviator leather in the upper, a Coolmax lining and cotton laces. The construction and finishing on my pair have felt appropriately premium from the beginning. (Materials and manufacturing)
Sizing and fit
Sizing is the part of my WYDE Nova review I most wanted to document carefully because the extra room can initially feel wrong when conventional sneakers are your reference point.

In EU 42, my toes touched the front and the shoe felt too shallow. The EU 43 feels like my correct size. I have never had toe contact, blisters, hot spots or heel rubbing in it.
The initial roominess was almost entirely psychological. I associated a close-fitting upper with the correct size, even when that fit constrained my toes. Once I stopped interpreting open space as a sizing mistake, the Nova became extremely comfortable.
WYDE’s current manual instructions say the measurements in its chart refer to the removable footbed and suggest adding 0.3 to 0.7 cm to foot length. Elsewhere on the same product page, its FAQ gives a broader 0.3 to 1.0 cm range based on personal preference. That small inconsistency helps explain why people keep asking about Nova sizing online. My EU 43 insole measurements
My removable EU 43 insole measures approximately 28 cm long and 10.5 cm at its widest point, or about 11.0 × 4.13 inches. With a foot length of 27.2 to 27.3 cm, that leaves roughly 0.7 to 0.8 cm of additional insole length.
The insole width and foot width happen to be similar on paper, but that does not mean my foot is squeezed into a rigid 10.5 cm box. The flexible upper and the internal volume around it matter. This is why an insole measurement is useful but cannot completely predict fit.
My advice is to measure both feet while standing, follow the larger foot and take the recommended front space seriously. If a Nova feels strange only because your toes are no longer touching the sides, give yourself a little time to distinguish unfamiliar roominess from genuinely excessive length or heel movement.
Comfort during long days
The moment that convinced me came almost immediately. I wore the new shoes on a night out that involved roughly eight to ten hours on my feet. I would normally expect aching foot muscles, tired legs and the need to keep shifting my weight. Sometimes I also get a tingling or slightly numb sensation in other shoes.
None of that happened in the Nova.
Since then, I have worn them to concerts and on full tourist days in Paris with approximately 20,000 steps. Whenever I chose different casual shoes for a concert, I regretted it afterward. The Nova has become my predictable option when I know I will be standing or walking for hours.
There was no break-in period. The leather was soft from the beginning, and I never developed blisters, rubbing or hot spots. The toe box also gives me enough height, not just width, which was one of the reasons the EU 42 failed for me.
I cannot turn that experience into a medical promise for somebody else’s feet. I can say that, for my feet, the combination of space, flexibility, stability and moderate underfoot protection has worked better for long casual days than any shoe I owned before it.
Are they heavy?
My EU 43 Nova weighs approximately 440 g, or 15.5 oz, per shoe on my kitchen scale. That measurement includes the removable insole and my replacement elastic laces. The pair weighs about 880 g, 31 oz or 1.94 lb.
I could not find an official published weight for the Nova, so treat this as a measurement of my pair rather than a specification that applies to every size and material combination.
They feel substantial when I pick them up. If your priority is an ultralight shoe, this may be a drawback. I have never noticed the weight as a problem while walking, even on 20,000-step days. The shoe feels stable rather than burdensome on foot.
Ten-month durability
The durability has exceeded my expectations, especially because this is a light Beige/Blue colorway that I wear about four days each week.
I intentionally photographed the shoes without cleaning them first. I have only given them one thorough clean during the entire review period. The pictures therefore show a realistic ten-month condition rather than a restored pair prepared for a product shoot.
The beige leather has visible flex creases across the forefoot and along the side panels. Those creases developed early and then seemed to stabilise. The toe box still holds its shape, the stitching remains intact and I cannot see separation between the upper and sole.
The outsole is in similarly good condition. The circular forefoot pattern and heel tread remain well defined, with no bald patches or dramatic uneven wear.
Inside, the heel lining has light discoloration but no holes. The removable insoles show normal compression and a little edge wear without major breakdown.
I would not call them unchanged from new. The creasing, softened appearance and mild surface dirt are obvious in the photographs. Structurally, however, they look much as they did once the initial creases had formed during the first month.
The original laces were my main annoyance
The stock cotton laces did not slide smoothly through the eyelets. Loosening the shoes enough to put them on and then tightening them again became more fiddly than it should have been.
I replaced them with generic elastic no-tie laces with a small clip closure. Installation was easy, and the change made the shoes dramatically more convenient. I can now slip them on, adjust them quickly and leave the tension where I like it.
I am not recommending one specific replacement yet. Searching Amazon for elastic no-tie shoe laces will show many similar options. Check the lace length, width and closure style before ordering.
Heat, rain, cleaning and everyday practicality
My feet do not normally become sweaty in the Nova. On very hot days above 30°C to 35°C, or 86°F to 95°F, they feel slightly warm, but not excessively so for a leather casual shoe.
I have only worn them in light rain. They handled that limited exposure without a problem, but I have not tested them in sustained rain, deep puddles or genuinely wet conditions. This is not a waterproofness verdict.
The materials have not been difficult to maintain, although I also have not challenged them with serious stains. WYDE recommends a soft dry cloth, or a damp cloth with a mild soap solution for tougher marks. My once-in-ten-months cleaning routine is not enough evidence for a detailed cleaning guide. They do not squeak, and they are comfortable for driving. They are easy enough to travel with because I normally wear them during the journey rather than packing them. The Beige/Blue colorway works well with casual outfits. It does look wider than a conventional sneaker from above, but the design makes that shape look deliberate rather than medical.
What I use them for, and what I do not
The Nova is at its best as an everyday lifestyle and walking shoe. My main uses are:
- Daily casual wear
- Long urban walks
- Travel and full sightseeing days
- Concerts and events with hours of standing
- Driving
I would use them for straightforward weightlifting because the zero-drop sole feels stable. I do not use them for my normal gym sessions because those include mixed and more dynamic training, and I do not want to damage an expensive casual shoe.
I would not run in them. That is not a criticism of the Nova. I simply prefer considerably more cushioning in a running shoe, and the Nova is built as a lifestyle sneaker rather than a running model.
Price and value
The price initially put me off. I paid the normal website price, which is still comparable to the current listed price, with VAT included in Europe. This is not an impulse-buy sneaker for most people.
After ten months, I think it has earned the price. I have worn the pair hundreds of times, the construction remains excellent and it fills a role I have struggled to replace. I have seen other attractive foot-shaped shoes online, including Barebarics models, but I have not tested them and will not pretend to offer a direct comparison.
The value case is personal. Someone who rotates ten pairs of casual sneakers may see the price differently. For me, the Nova became the default choice on four days out of seven and the shoe I trust for the longest days. If this pair disappeared, I would replace it at full price.

Is it suitable for narrow feet?
The generous forefoot could feel excessive on a narrow foot. Secure midfoot lacing may help, but I would use WYDE's sizing process and indoor trial period rather than assuming the fit will work.
How has the light color held up?
After ten months and only one thorough cleaning, my Beige/Blue pair has mild discoloration and visible leather creasing. It has no holes, torn panels, failed stitching or obvious sole separation.
Final verdict
The WYDE Nova solved a problem I had not fully understood until I wore it. I wanted enough width for my toes to move, but I did not want the harsh ground feel of a very thin barefoot shoe. The Nova gives me that freedom with enough comfort for concrete, concerts and full days exploring a city.
It is not light, the original laces were annoying and the price is steep. Ten months of frequent use have made each of those complaints easier to accept. The weight has never bothered me on foot, elastic laces fixed the daily inconvenience, and the condition of the leather, lining and outsole makes the purchase feel durable rather than indulgent.
The strongest recommendation I can give is also the simplest: if my pair disappeared tomorrow, I would buy another at full price.
